ARPS 4.0 was officially released in September, 1995. Since then improvements have been continually added, and subversions are made available on the FTP server after moderate amounts of testing were done. The version number as September 1998 is 4.4.0. These versions are what local scientists and students use. Check HISTORY file in the ARPS directory for details on the change history.
